Meet DRIALOS & A Sound He Calls “Void Trance”
hat first inspired you to start making electronic music, and who were your biggest influences early on?: Electronic music has been part of my life since I was very young. I was fascinated by the idea that sound alone could create entire worlds and emotions. Artists such as Vangelis, together with the melodic and atmospheric side of classic trance, deeply influenced the way I think about music. Over time, producing became my way of telling stories without words.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?: I call my sound VOID TRANCE. It combines Progressive Trance, Psytrance, Mainstage energy and cinematic elements. The goal is not simply to create tracks for the dancefloor, but to build a continuous musical universe where every release feels like another chapter of the same story.
Walk us through your creative process. Do tracks usually start with a melody, a beat, a vocal, or something else entirely?: I usually begin with an atmosphere or an emotion rather than a specific musical element. Sometimes it starts with a pad, a cinematic texture, a melody or even an image in my mind. From there I build the story first and allow the rhythm, synths and trance elements to grow around it. I often think of the process as writing a fantasy book with sound.
What's the most challenging part of producing music in today's electronic music scene?: The biggest challenge is maintaining a unique identity in a scene where an enormous amount of music is released every day. Technology makes production more accessible than ever, which is exciting, but it also makes artistic identity even more important. My focus is therefore on creating something recognizable as DRIALOS rather than following every current trend.
Can you tell us about a track you're especially proud of and the story behind its creation?: ASCENSION is one of the tracks I am most proud of because it represents a turning point in the DRIALOS story. It is about moving from darkness toward light — an ascent of the spirit rather than simply a musical climax.
It belongs to a larger narrative that runs through my recent work. AETHER introduced the world, ASCENSION represents the rise, and the story continues toward the VOID. Music and visual storytelling are designed together as parts of the same universe.
For me, ASCENSION expresses what DRIALOS is becoming: trance music that can work on a dancefloor while still feeling like a chapter from a cinematic fantasy story.
What artists—inside or outside electronic music—are inspiring you right now?: I’m inspired by artists who create worlds, not just tracks. Vangelis remains a major influence because of the way he could make music feel cinematic, emotional and timeless. Within electronic music, I’m drawn to artists who combine trance energy with atmosphere, psychedelic detail and strong emotional storytelling. I’m also inspired by film scores, fantasy cinema and visual art, because for me music and imagery are part of the same creative universe.
What's next for you? Any upcoming releases, collaborations, tours, or projects fans should know about?: The next chapter is already in development. After AETHER and ASCENSION, the story moves toward VOID, which will push the cinematic side of the project even further while keeping the trance energy at its core. I’m building DRIALOS as a continuous universe rather than a collection of unrelated singles, with music, visuals and storytelling evolving together. The long-term goal is to bring VOID TRANCE into a live setting where the audience can experience the full journey as both sound and story.
