Armin van Buuren Delivers a Trance Masterclass at Tomorrowland 2026's Freedom Stage
Saturday night was about trance music.
When it got dark at Tomorrowland the Freedom Stage turned into a place with really good music, strong beats and happy feelings. Armin van Buuren performed at the end of Day 2 of Weekend 1. Reminded everyone why he is so popular in dance music.
This was not a normal performance. It was a journey with new songs, unexpected mixes and old trance classics that worked really well together.
Armin van Buuren started strong.
He began with the Arti Prjct remix of "No Mercy," his song with Adam Beyer and then mixed it with Charlotte de Witte and Enrico Sangiulianos new version of "The Age Of Love." It was a great start. Strong, exciting. You could not ignore it.
After that it just got better.
The crowd heard the W&W 2026 remix of Motorcycles famous "As The Rush Comes " followed by Ginchys "Who Do You Love Now." Then Dada Lifes popular "Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker" was played at the Freedom Stage with vocals from Armin van Buurens "Heavy" and ALOKs "Around."
The music changed smoothly. The energy stayed high.
In the middle of the performance Armin van Buuren played some songs without losing the feeling that makes his music so special.
Fans heard tracks like "Our Origin" with Shapov, a new remix of "Take Me Home " the melodic techno-inspired "Here In My Arms (Enjoy The Silence)" with Silver Panda and "Like A Child " his song with Argy and Marlo Rex.
One really cool moment was when Empire Of The Suns "Walking On A Dream" was mixed with Armin van Buurens work with Skytech and then "Techno Trance" by Adam Beyer and D-Shake was played.
Then something special happened.
Armin van Buuren invited his son, SACHA to the Freedom Stage. It was a really memorable moment for the festival. They played their song "Set Me Free" together both the original and the VIP mix. Before that the crowd heard the Rising Star remix of "Everlasting," which was perfect for the moment.
The atmosphere changed from excitement to feeling.
Between SACHAs appearances Armin van Buuren played a lot of trance classics and new favorites that fans will talk about for years. There were songs like Mark Sherrys remix of BiXXs "Yes I Can " Sneijders version of Bart Claessens "Playmo " Giuseppe Ottaviani and Ilan Bluestones "Together Again " a powerful Rising Star rework of "Sonic Samba," and Dan Harrisons remix of the iconic ASOT 800 anthem "I Live For That Energy."
Every song change felt like it was meant to be.
Every drop was great.
Every record made the performance more unforgettable.
The nostalgia continued with Space 92s remix of Oxias "Domino," a version of Energy 52s "Cafe Del Mar," Ben Hemsleys remix of "In And Out Of Love" with Sharon den Adel and ReOrders uplifting version of Saltwaters "The Legacy."
By this point the Freedom Stage was like one trance family.
One of the moments was "Always You," the ASOT 2026 Elevation Anthem that Armin van Buuren made with Richard Durand and Dicosis. With vocals from "Follow The Light " Armin van Buuren made the anthem an emotional high point that captured the spirit of the night.
The final part was just as good.
Brennan Heart, HI-LO and Project Zeitgeists version of "Adagio For Strings" added more energy and then DIØNs "Taka Tribe" was mixed with "Great Spirit" for a tribal finale that shook the whole venue.
To end the night Armin van Buuren performed with SACHA again for "Set Me Free." It was an ending. A really personal one that brought thousands of fans together for a final emotional moment under the Freedom Stage roof.
Tomorrowland has had great performances but Armin van Buurens 2026 Freedom Stage closing set will be remembered as one of the best trance moments.
It was full of energy.
It was nostalgic.
It was emotional.
Importantly it reminded everyone that when Armin van Buuren is, in control trance music is exactly where it should be. At the heart of the dance floor.
